Udaipur 18 October. On the initiative of Dr. Laksharaj Singh Mewar, trustee of Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, technical innovation in girl education is being encouraged. Dr. Laksharaj Singh Mewar,, with the help of travel company A. & K. India, has gifted 10 computer sets to Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Jagdish Chowk Udaipur. Keeping in mind the demand of the time under the digital revolution in girl education at present, Dr. Laksharaj Singh Mewar, has gifted these computers along with internet facility material with the aim of making the girls digitally empowered and skilled. This work will prove to be an important step towards the progressive development of the society. For this reason, along with computer sets, free internet service has also been made available for one year. The foundation has also got the school repaired and painted with the help of travel company A. & K. India. Principal of the girls’ school, Ruchi Parik, said that carrying forward the traditions of education donation of the Mewar Maharanas, Dr. Laksharaj Singh Mewar, deposited the annual fee of the girls studying in the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Jagdish Chowk in the year 2023.
The first school of the state was opened in January 1863 AD during the reign of Maharana Shambhu Singh, the 71st patron of Mewar (year 1861-1874). Which was named Shambhuratna Pathshala.
Renovation and development of government school
Under the project named ‘Education in Udaipur’, the conservation and enhancement of the school building was started by Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur. Keeping in mind the historical relationship between the school and the Mewar family, as per the request of the school authorities, the Foundation undertook various renovation and restoration projects and got it completed in three phases in the years 2015, 2016 and 2017.
